Back End: Is "Affiliate Marketing" a Revenue Stream for New Media?
Money Buys Neither Happiness nor Success but it sure Simplifies the Challenge of Getting the Word Out.
Since February 2022, Canada’s independent media ecosystem has been financially strangled by the memory of the Federal Government’s Emergencies Act, which included the seizure of millions of dollars of funds from both the protestors opposed to government actions and the independent media outlets covering those activities.
For new media. the biggest hit was the $150,000 seized from Druthers, an Ontario based, monthly print publication with approximately 300,000 regular readers across Canada.
Most of those funds have never been returned, at least according to the people who raised the money and thought it was theirs.
