BACK-END: Legacy Media "Presstitutes" Think No One Else is Covering the Federal Election

Independent new media outlets are providing unique viewpoints on the current election. While the legacy continues to demonize them, new media should continue providing alternatives.

As a former journalist and current MacDonald Laurier Institute “senior fellow” tasked with thinking deeply about journalism, Peter Menzies understands that legacy media in Canada is almost entirely funded by the Federal government.

For the first time in the nation’s history, almost all the media covering an election have a direct, even existential, stake in the outcome.
