The "Real Reason" Behind Contentious “GST Holiday” Legislation

The Liberal Party’s proposed “GST Holiday” legislation, essentially a bill providing for a two month GST exception on purchases of common consumer household items, is one step closer to becoming law.

As outlined in the November 28th, 2024 CTV News post, “Trudeau Liberals' two-month GST holiday bill passes the House, off to the Senate” the twelve page motion under the title “Bill C-78,” passed “after a winding procedural process unfolded in the chamber over several hours,” and after debate on the “green slush fund” scandal was temporarily halted.

The bill seems to have passed without the usual Parliamentary scrutiny, racing through three truncated readings in the House of Commons in only a two day period.

The December 1st, 2024 Village Media post, “Justin Trudeau’s GST holiday a ‘giant mess” for small businesses” notes the large amount of effort and paper work required by small businesses in Canada to obtain compliance with the GST Holiday legislation before December 14th, 2024, when the bill is expected to come into force. They’ll then need to reset everything back to the way it was when the bill expires on February 15th, 2025.

As outlined in the November 27th, 2024 CTV News post, “Liberals table GST holiday legislation, putting $250 rebate on backburner,” the second part of the proposed GST legislation, a $250 cash rebate, has been “postponed” after NDP leader Jagmeet Singh offered up a counter proposal to expand the rebate to include “seniors and people living with disabilities.”

Consensus over the legislation is mixed.

Some, as outlined in the November 28th, 2024 Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) of Canada post, “GST holiday doesn't address long-term issues,” argue that the rebate doesn’t help Canadians enough.

But others, including Bank of Canada economists as outlined in the November 22nd, 2024 Better Dwelling post, “Bank of Canada To Slow Interest Rate Cuts With GST Holiday & ON Stimmy: BMO,” expect the rate of inflation to jump higher in the new year as a result of the legislation.

According to the Better Dwelling post, the Bank of Canada plans to act to reduce inflation by slowing a series of planned interest rate cuts, essentially negating the impact of the Federal GST holiday, beginning in the new year.

So the government gives out free money for Christmas and that money will be immediately taken back by the Bank of Canada in 2025.

The December 2nd, 2024 Western Standard post, “Speaker ejects NDP MPs after heated swarming,” notes that the GST Holiday legislation did not pass through the House of Commons without incident. According to the post, the Assistant Sergeant at Arms escorted NDP MP’s Lindsay Mathyssen (London-Fanshawe), Blake Desjarlais (Edmonton Griesbach), Bonita Zarrillo (Port Moody-Coquitlam, B.C.), and Jenny Kwan (Vancouver East) out of the building after the four “physically” approached Conservative MP Michael Barrett (Leeds-Grenville, Ont.) over comments he made during debate on the legislation.

The tax break was passed with the assistance of House Speaker Greg Fergus who delivered a ruling that temporarily allowed the House to resume activities over a four day period.

Fergus originally ruled in September 2024 that the Justin Trudeau Liberal government “clearly did not fully comply” with the speaker’s order to provide documents related to Sustainable Development Technology Canada (SDTC), a shuttered Canadian government agency currently under investigation over a nearly $400Mln CDN series of grants to organizations officially ineligible for funding and/or with ties to Liberal politicians and halted most Parliamentary activities until the government handed over the documents.

The House used their temporary resumption of activities to greenlight not just the GST holiday legislation, but also to move forward with $21Bln in total of proposed Federal government spending and for the decriminalization of simple possession of all narcotics, including heroin and cocaine.

This allows the Trudeau Liberals to avoid changes that they cannot pass fiscal legislation and have lost the confidence of the House of Commons, therefore a Federal election should be immediately called.

Perhaps that was the real reason behind the GST holiday legislation. No one in Parliament wants the Trudeau government to collapse any time soon.

The War between “Banksters” and “Technocrats.”

The November 29^th, 2024 Last American Vagabond post, “Co-opting Freedom: The Bitcoin Sleight Of Hand & the New AI Control Structure,” is a panel discussion between Catherine Austin Fitts, Jason Bermas, Steve Poikonen and Ryan Cristian, focused on the overlap of three main topics; the incoming Trump administration, “Bitcoin as a potential strategic reserve” and the role of “artificial intelligence” in securing the future of the US.

The video focuses around the concept of a "war" between "Banksters" like the Rothchilds and the Rockefellers’ and “Technocrats,” people like Elon Musk and Peter Theil, and the historical clash of ideologies, interests, and power dynamics between the two groups:

• Banksters: The term refers to bankers or financial institutions seen as manipulative or corrupt, who focus on profit over public welfare. Historically, this term became popular during times of economic crises where banking practices were scrutinized, like during the Great Depression.

  The struggle of figures like Andrew Jackson against the Second Bank of the United States in the early 19th century is an example where "banksters" were seen as manipulating the economy for private gain.

  Jackson's "Bank War" was essentially a conflict over the re-chartering of the Bank of the United States, which he vetoed, leading to its eventual dissolution.

• Technocrats: The technocracy movement, most prominent in the 1930s, advocated for governance by technical experts rather than by politicians or traditional business leaders.

  Technocrats believe that scientists, engineers, and other technical professionals can manage the economy more efficiently and rationally than the "price system" of capitalism or the political processes of democracy. They argued for a system where decisions would be based on empirical data rather than political or financial interests.

  During the Great Depression, technocracy was seen as a potential solution to economic woes, contrasting with the banking elite's practices. However, the movement's influence waned as it failed to propose a viable political strategy for change and was overshadowed by the New Deal reforms.

In contemporary terms, modern day "Banksters" might refer to financial sector practices that lead to economic instability or crises, like the 2008 financial crisis, where banking practices were criticized for prioritizing profit over stability while “technocrats” refer to policymakers or government officials chosen for their expertise in economics, technology, or other scientific fields.

The "war" between "banksters" and “technocrats” isn't a physical conflict but an ongoing ideological and power struggle over how economic and monetary policy should be centralized and managed.

The solution to this problem, at least according to Fitts, Bermas, Poikonen and Cristian, seems to be decentralization.

10% of Population to “Voluntarily Leave Canada” by End of 2025

The Canadian government expects 10% of its population will voluntarily leave Canada by the end of next year, according to the November 28th, 2024 Better Dwelling post, “Canada Expects Up To 1 In 10 People To Voluntarily Leave By Next Year.”

As outlined in the post, the ruling Trudeau Liberals expect nearly 5 million visas to expire next year, and hopes those who lose residency will leave voluntarily:

That’s likely what will happen in most cases, but the GoC has a long history of struggling to deal with those who refuse an order to leave—from global crime bosses to foreign warlords.

The post goes on to note:

Canada has recently announced a complete change in direction for population growth. Policymakers spent the past few years explaining that record immigration growth will lead to an economic boom. Suddenly, with an election scheduled within the next year, they’ve begun to explain the exact opposite. Planned de-growth is now touted as accomplishing similar goals.

The November 27th, 2024 Yakk Stack post, “12% Of Canadas Population is Temporary?” questions the logistics behind removing the equivalent of the entire population of Alberta from Canada anytime soon.

The Yakk Stack post also worries that the legitimate, legal workers will leave, while the “low skilled asylum seekers,” getting by on government handouts will attempt to stay for as long as they can.

At least as outlined in the november 26th, 2024 Better Homes post, “Canadian New Home Prices Made The Biggest Drop Since 2009,“ housing prices are expected to continue to keep dropping.

Earlier this year the Trudeau Liberals announced changed to Canada’s immigration policy, making it more difficult for people to immigrate to Canada.

Hunter Biden Pardoned

Also in the news this week, President Joe Biden has signed a full and unconditional pardon for his son, Hunter.

Officially and as outlined in the December 1st, 2024 Epoch Time post, “President Biden Pardons His Son Hunter Biden.” the pardon forgives the younger Biden for any and all federal crimes he may have committed over the last eleven years along with their associated legal penalties.

Hunter Biden is officially charged with nine counts of federal tax evasion to the sum of $1.4 million between 2016 and 2019 and pleaded guilty to the charges in September after a previously negotiated plea deal fell through. He was facing up to 17 years in prison and $1.3 million in fines.

In a separate case, Hunter Biden has also been convicted by a jury of illegally purchasing a firearm in 2018 while using drugs, and lying about the drug use at the time of purchase. He illegally possessed the gun for 11 days and was could be jailed up to 25 years for the three counts.

Unofficially, Hunter Biden is acknowledged by government officials as being under investigation for a long series of corruption and drug related charges which haven’t yet come to trial.

The presidential pardon will prevent the charges from ever coming to trial.

Elon Musk weighed in on the pardon on “X,” in a December 2nd, 2024 post noting that maybe some people really are “above the law.”

Incoming President Donald Trump has signaled he’ll use Joe Biden’s pardon of Hunter as justification for his own desire to pardon the January 6th protesters.
