The Political Aftermath of Hurricane Helene, more on “Truth and Reconciliation” and How the Same Methodologies are Still in Use Today + Comparing Conservative Vs. Liberal Values.
The Political Aftermath of Hurricane Helene
The confusion and propaganda surrounding the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, a devastating tropical cyclone that caused widespread destruction across the Southeastern United States in late September 2024, is growing.
As outlined in the October 4th, 2024 NBC News post, “Hurricane Helene aftermath: More than 200 dead as hope fades in search for survivors,” up to 1,000 active-duty soldiers are expected to join the North Carolina National Guard in delivering supplies, food and water to communities isolated by the recent hurricane.
But the perception is growing, at least in some quarters, that US government agencies are not fulfilling their assigned role in the recovery but are instead, attempting to centralize all responses within their offices by refusing entry to individuals and others attempting to assist with the cleanup.
The October 5th,2024 PBS post, “Disinformation and conspiracy theories cloud Helene recovery efforts in hard-hit areas,” argue that the acknowledged devastation and despair caused by the storm:
… is not enough for the extremist groups, disinformation agents, hucksters and politicians who are exploiting the disaster to spread false claims and conspiracy theories about it and the government’s response.
The post accuses republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump of making “false claims about the federal response to Hurricane Helene,” and says that “Debunking conspiracy theories takes time away from recovery efforts.”
The post also notes the “false claims” made by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk and his October 4th, 2024 “X” post that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), one of twenty-two agencies in the US Department of Homeland Security tasked with bringing “a coordinated approach to national security from emergencies and disasters – both natural and man-made,” is “actively blocking citizens who try to help!”
In the old days, these sorts of public statements from presidential candidates and well known, well connected military contractors would have led to federal investigations and firings.
Nowadays, its “propaganda,” conflated with Russia and China disinformation, and somehow related to “far-out tales of space lasers, fake snow and weather control technology” or even the expropriation of local lithium mines to insure critical supplies.
At least that’s what the legacy media and senior government representatives would have you believe.
For some, the lack of trusted information from knowledgeable, on site-sources is creating a situation where anything is possible and no one, especially a government concerned with maintaining its authority, can be trusted.
Some of the problem might be caused by the expectation that FEMA will run out of government funding by the end of the year, a situation generally acknowledged on all sides of the political divide, even as everyone insists on blaming someone else for the situation.
Perhaps the real problem is FEMA’s mandate that it is responsible for the “coordinated” approach to any disaster. This can often be misread by by governments as being “centralized.”
Perhaps a more distributed, less centralized and less authoritarian solution is called for.
The October 6th, 2024 Courageous Discourse on Substack post, “Federal Responses to Pandemic and Natural Disasters Become Authoritarian,” argues that most centralized efforts throughout the world, be they disaster relief, health care or otherwise, have become increasingly authoritarian.
The people need to rediscover the simple fact governments and bureaucrats respond best to close supervision provided by the people.
There’s a lot of fishy crap currently going on a FEMA and in other places. We need to get on top of it.
More on “Truth and Reconciliation” and How the Same Methodologies are Still in Use Today
Our second story is sort of a follow-up to the October 3rd, 2024 Freedom Forum repost of the The Maple Theonomist piece, “A National Day of Lies and Separation.”
We start with the September 30th, 2024 CBC News on YouTube post, “Canada marks 4th National Day for Truth and Reconciliation,” then move on to the August 2021 Nova Scotia Child Welfare Services Information Sheet from the Canadian Child Welfare Research Portal and Budget 2024 from the government of Alberta Children and Family Services Ministry Business Plan.
We conclude by noting that the story is complex and surrounded by propaganda, but many of the techniques used are still being used now in other areas to destroy family bonds and cultures.
Comparing Conservative Vs. Liberal Values
We finish up with a quick comparison between conservative and liberal values using the October 5th, 2024 Mongo Minds on Bitchute post, “Conservative Values Vs. Liberal Ideology,” as a starting point.
“Roasting the Press,” is an open forum with new media journalists critiquing and complaining about our well funded competitors, the stories they create and the techniques they use.
