Ottawa’s New Bill C-2 is a Propaganda Goldmine of Government Overreach

Officially, it’s ”An Act respecting certain measures relating to the security of the border between Canada and the United States and respecting other related security measures,” and designed to:

• Enhance Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) powers to search containers exiting Canada, combat fentanyl trafficking, and curb organized crime and money laundering (e.g., banning cash transactions over $10,000).

• Bar foreign nationals from claiming refugee protection if they entered Canada after June 24, 2020, and apply more than one year after entry, or if they crossed irregularly at the Canada-U.S. border outside official ports.

• Allow warrantless access to internet subscriber information and permit Canada Post employees to open mail under certain conditions.
