The legacy media is well represented in marketing databases. But there’s not a lot of places to go for lists of alternative “new media” publications. Here's a list of 50+ Canadian alternatives.

There’s a lot of listings of Canadian legacy media outlets available online. For example, there’s the the 2021 Prowly post, “Top 100 Media Outlets in Canada.”

Prowly, a Warsaw, Poland based database provider makes money off their contacts, branding themselves as a “public relations software company,” where those with products to sell and stories to tell can “create and send press releases, track mentions, build reports, and more.”

It’s “All-In-One PR Software,” built specifically to make media relations “simple.”

Clients include large advertising companies, agencies of the United Nations such as UNICEF (well known for its recent attempts to regulate online content), media and entertainment conglomerates, plus multinational tech giants.

But while the legacy media is well represented in marketing databases, there’s not a lot of places to go for lists of alternative “new media” publications.
