Regarding controversial funding initiatives, do you think there are better ways to promote direct funding of alternative media in Canada?

I ask specifically because that is one way that could almost eliminate these kinds of questions over sketchy funding sources.

I'm overall pessimistic in the idea however, because I don't think there are that many of us who would be willing to fund a broad range of independent voices, and many of us who are just took a significant career hit by being ejected from the workforce over mandates. Not exactly a "marketable demographic". Which is a problem because that extends to advertisement quality.

Looking forward to the compilation!

I do think there are better ways to promote direct funding of alternative media in Canada.

One solution might be to to some audience research to find products which resonate with viewers and then resell then. Kevin Trudeau did this with various nutraceuticals and supplements in the 1990's before being shut down by the FDA as did Alex Jones, beginning in the 2010's on Infowars.

Jones also has a backup revenue stream in his syndicated radio show which goes to local AM radio stations throughout the US.

Some media trade publications in the aerospace industry, such as the old "Euroconsult" out of Montreal began as industry publications and then branched out into highly profitable trade shows and conferences before finally moving into consulting, where the expertise they developed could be distilled into useful knowledge for high paying clients.

Catherine Austin Fitts does a little bit of this, using interviews in the media (alternative and legacy) to drive interest in her Solarii Report consulting service. Her model is similar to the financial model used by Jeff Berwick, the Dollar Vigilant, with the caveat that Fitts provides old school consulting services and Berwick mostly just promotes bitcoin.

The top of the heap for new media personalities seems to be Joe Rogan, who started out as a long-form YouTube podcaster (YouTube provided a financial bonus for every 5k viewers) until eventually moving to Spotify with a big $200Mln dollar deal in 2015.

The YouTube funding was mostly removed for content creators starting in 2019, but some of those incremental funding plans are being rolled out in places like Rumble and "X" so there are reasonable possibilities that others can reproduce Rogan's success.

There's lots of other options as well, for those willing to look. I hope this has given you a few ideas.
